Commissioned work, drawing, charcoal and graphite, signed, format 89 x 98 cm. Because of the surprising size of the picture, which had not been agreed upon beforehand, we looked together for the best hanging option in the living area. The artist, who studied sculpture with Professors Hemrich, Mainz, and Paolozzi, Munich, and painting with Prof. Baschang, Munich, is a member of the Munich Secession. He paints figuratively (natural motifs, including portraits), sometimes in an expressive style, while maintaining his freedom. The motif is oriented towards work by the Korean sculptor Jinmo Kang and is considered a memorial to Chernobyl. I was present when his work was installed on Bamberg's Regnitzufer (in the presence of the sculptor and his former Prof. Leo Kornbrust). A former student brought Prof. Kornbrust from St. Wendel (Saarland) to Bamberg for this event, a touching encounter. There is a sign by J. Kang. Catalog published by the Sungkok Art Museum, Seoul, printed in Korea and by Lothar Götter two representative catalogs (signed), titled "Works" (2010) and "Pictures" (2021). Quote from a buyer of his paintings: "When painting, the artist is always completely with himself, has always unwaveringly followed his own path, has never tried to follow a fashion or to attract attention with any trick. Bad for business, good for me" (R.H.).
