I had this complete and therefore valuable volume from 1865 specially bound for better preservation because, among other things, it contains the extensive
"Directory of reptiles, on a journey in northern America" by Maximilian Prinz zu Wied-Neuwied (1782 -1867). Following the example of Alexander von Humboldt, he undertook two expeditions lasting several years to North and South America. He was an officer, explorer, ethnologist and zoologist. In North America (1832 -1834) he was accompanied by the Swiss painter Karl Bodmer, who created the 5 wonderful turtle panels (for illustrations see graphic, Bodmer). Because of this extraordinary work, I visited Andreas Brahm (Chimaira) in Frankfurt/Main in 2010. In total there are over 50 books that specifically relate to art.
