Pretty banknote from Colombia, depicting islands that are home to the large sea turtle (Tortuga Carey). 1,000 cafeteros correspond to approximately €0.23 / 2013. On the back a church and a fisherman with a large net are visible. The security elements here are very modest. This is fundamentally different with the Bank Negara Malaysia note (below). The front shows a portrait of the head of state with a turban (the motif is repeated in the watermark) and a large red flower, and a security strip is also embedded. The two sea turtles can be seen on the back. The artist commissioned Giesecke & Devrient to create both sides of the bill (and countless other banknotes). (G + D Currency Technology, Munich), one of the world's leading companies with its own high-security wing, meticulously designed. The production of banknotes is graphically difficult, complex in terms of security and very demanding in terms of craftsmanship. Even the artist was unable to purchase a certificate from the production (20 RM/Ringgit Malaysia corresponds to approx. 4 €, format 14.5 x 6.5 cm). In between there is a photo I took of the graphic designer. The designs are created on paper, the design team's work takes place on the computer. By the way, it is interesting that the central bank does not have a motif with local butterflies wanted because they only live quite a short time. In my collection there is also an original etching by his hand ("Search: Winkler").
