Commissioned work, a smaller turtle silhouette made of iron was agreed upon, the result was a large installation made of rusted scrap (found objects), which I was spontaneously enthusiastic about. According to the studied sculptor (including a DAAD scholarship in the USA), a turtle lives from space, including the belly side. A longer development process has led to him breaking new ground by:
He bent iron sheets through welds that correspond to the structure of the turtle shell to build the hollow body. The legs are made from bathtub feet, the head is made from an old field fork with a counterpart. Size approx. 120 x 90 cm.
I received the design drawings later. Personal contact with the artist (who lives in Magdeburg) came about through an exhibition with the jewelry designer Isabella Muschalik ("Search: Muschalik"). The idea and execution of the space-saving suspension (balcony) on two steel cables was created by my sculptor friend Hermann Bigelmayr ("Search: Bigelmayr"). The object can be used as a gong by striking it and can therefore also be found in the category of musical instruments. In comparison see his second work, which corresponds to the original commission ("Search: Röderer").
