Commissioned work, pure rock crystal (Himalaya) from a single piece. The turtle carries a stupa (building with great religious significance), the crowning glory of Buddhist temple complexes. The basic elements of the stupa are: a square base ("earth"), a circular base, a dome vault and the top, which is topped with a "crown or jewel". Overall, this symbolizes the step-by-step path to enlightenment. A well-known stupa in Nepal is in Bodnath (near Kathmandu). Om Shresta commissioned this work from a Nepalese artisan on my behalf after prior telephone consultation, size 12.5 cm. For me it is a small cabinet of curiosities object.
