Detail view artifact.

Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) carefully prepared, the underside (plastron) is colored yellow, size 56 cm. It is sometimes confused with the loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta), which, however, does not have such a beautiful tortoiseshell. The species is widespread, especially in tropical and subtropical seas, but also in temperate zones, e.g. on the island of Zakynthos (Greece). There I was able to observe them in the wild. Despite international conservation programs and efforts to protect nesting beaches, it is remains significantly threatened. That's why I belong to two protection organizations in Germany that work for endangered turtles worldwide. I was also in good contact with WILDCOAST (USA/Mexico) and received a certificate for this in 2006.
