Commissioned work, book owner’s mark, copperplate engraving on handmade paper with the artist’s embossed blind print signet (linden seed leaf), format 13.3 x 9.5 cm, from 1993, Edition 100 plus e.a. (epreuve d'artiste). This also includes his sketches and the copper plate. There is also an interesting book (signed) with 65 of his Ex libris (the artist always tries to capture the reflection of the book friend), including my copy, which is also included in one of his catalog raisonnés (1987 - 1999). I own numerous other works by the highly esteemed artist (also unrelated to the subject turtles), his catalog raisonné and various book illustrations (from J. v. Eichendorff to T. Mann to I. Bachmann). After the invention of the printing press, bookplates first flourished with A. Dürer, among others. Today, these graphics are popular collector's and barter items.
