Painting by Osman Hamdi Bey (from 1906), Turkey, oil on canvas, 223 x 117 cm, titled "Kaplumbaga Terbiyecisi" (The Turtle Educator) hangs in the Pera- Museum, Istanbul. After research, the artist was inspired by an old Japanese graphic that he bought in Paris. Stylistically, his painting pays homage to French salon painting. The famous motif is the model for my unusual carpet, further information can be found under "Search: silk carpet".
