Book (Carl Hanser Verlag, 1977, 156 pages) with around 150 drawings by the author (from ancient Egyptian fortress buildings to the...
Flying machines of the 19th century, including ironic misdevelopments in weapons technology). The drawing on the cover is entitled "Heavy Armored Rider" and refers to Pyrrhus' victory over the Romans (279 BC), which turned out to be the beginning of the bitter end for him. The author writes "Everyone wanted to have thick skin, armor became fashionable." There is a second drawing in the book with an entire army of these advancing "tank riders". The cover motif can also be found as a sculpture in my collection, designed by Andrea Keinert ("Search: Keinert"). The artist attended the Werkkunstschule in Offenbach and
became known for his caricatures and satirical drawings (e.g. in "pardon", "Vorwärts" and the FAZ) and was represented, among other things, with an exhibition at Meisi Grill (Munich). A green space in Frankfurt is named after him. There is a stately bronze sculpture by the sculptor Siegfried Böttcher, designed based on a drawing by Halbritter. His drawings also include turtles, equipped with brushes (in several variations), which he describes as upper-bristled and under-bristled fuzz animals
calls. Of the numerous book publications I still have "Everyone has the right" (Hanser, 1976). There, the contradictions and weaknesses of our democracy are critically recorded with a sharp pen. The books are still surprisingly up to date, but unfortunately the author has now been almost forgotten. There are also two remarkable books about K. Halbritter by Robert Gernhardt (he is also represented in my library with his picture stories).
