Commissioned work for the ceramic master, who has been highly valued for many years, stoneware, hand-modeled, glazed and deliberately designed as a box to show off the cuneiform tablet provided (as a lid), size 16.5 cm. Background: I bought the clay tablet in 1971 on a long trip to the Middle East (on my own in an old VW Beetle) from a farmer near Babylon (one of the most important cities in antiquity, today Iraq) for a few US dollars. I was impressed by the bull molded on the back because of the small missing part (see bottom left), I couldn't judge the cuneiform writing. After more than 50 years, I wanted to know exactly and turned to the Institute for Assyriology and Hethiology at LMU. Two research assistants came to the conclusion: The key is the cuneiform script and although it is pressed into the clay tablet using a reed stylus, it makes no sense, i.e. it is a forgery. Instead, I now have a small work of art and a very unusual collector's item, which also becomes a treasure chest thanks to the jewelry from Colombia (see category: Jewelry).
