From the book "Le Moment fugitif" (The fleeting moment), a photo book by the highly esteemed Stefan Moses with texts by Alexander Kluge (see below), Nimbus publisher. Art and Books AG, Switzerland (2014), 127 pages. The writer Ernst Jünger (e.g. "In Stahlgewittern") is pictured in his garden in Wilfingen (Württemberg), along with his turtle "Hebe", named after the Greek goddess of youth. Looking back, he had an extremely eventful life (1895 - 1998) and also an incredible passion for collecting (including 40,000 beetles). Since Jünger was considered a turtle lover and there was a taxidermied sea turtle hanging in his apartment ("Search: Ernst Jünger"), Moses brought him this primitive animal as a gift. Almost 30 years after the writer's death, "Hebe" still lives there, looked after by the curator Irene Späth. Moses is one of the most important German photographers, his estate is in the Munich City Museum (at the time under the direction of Dr. Ulrich Pohlmann). Luckily, I was able to attend several of his exhibition openings and also own the illustrated book "Everyone is a small society" (206 pages). At the end of 2016 I was in contact with Mr. Moses, but he was already feeling bad and unfortunately the purchase of 1 or 2 of his turtle photos no longer worked out. Here is a brief addition to Alexander Kluge (1932 - 2026): he was, among other things, a filmmaker, screenwriter, writer and visual artist. His brilliant life's work was recognized with countless top prizes; he lived in Munich for a long time.
